November 2019

Hello, and welcome to Lyfe in Tow. I’m Sarah, and thanks for checking out my story.

Lyfe in Tow - my somewhat spontaneous decision to drop everything and hit the open road - is inspired by a recent revelation. As a thirty-eight-year-old (I still can’t believe that’s my age) single woman, I often feel I’m living life from the outside looking in. I have a fantastic existence and have been so fortunate with many unique experiences, but the months have quickly turned into years and the years have even more quickly turned into decades. The faster time flies, and the more I hear “life is short,” the more I realize that this is it. THIS is the time.

I decided that the days of trolling through dating apps hoping that the universe would magically present me with a bona fide life partner (fully equipped with a white picket fence) were over. I needed something that was in my control. Instead of focusing on what I don’t have, I will focus on what I DO have: my health, only myself (and my pooch, Addie) to answer to, and the will to take a leap of faith. And that realization was the spark to ignite Lyfe in Tow.

So, here I am - in the midst of making changes. Always very career focused, I resigned from my corporate job in international retail. I sold my house in Columbus, OH, sold, donated or stored my personal belongings and purchased a 2017 Airstream Basecamp as my home on wheels for the next 12 months. I’ve mapped out a course based on U.S. National Parks, and will fill in the gaps in between. This life on the road begins early November.

I don’t know what this next year will bring, but that’s exactly the point. I have no experience towing a trailer, setting up camp sites, or living minimally, but I’m great at learning as I go. In fact, that’s how I thrive. I crave challenges, I am naturally curious and I have a strong (enough) sense of adventure.

Let’s do this. It’s going to be a wild ride, and I’m glad you’re riding shotgun.
